LEGENDARY former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson lifted the spirits of a cancer-stricken Timperley grandfather by ringing him, just days before he died.
Former Manchester United chef Tommy Stott died on September 2 after a brave four year battle with the illness. During that time he raised £25,000-plus for cancer charities.
A retired chef, he used to cook for David Beckham and the Class of ’92 at Manchester United.
Former Reds' boss Sir Alex called him 10 days before he died.
Tommy's son Jonathan said: "He looked up to Sir Alex and always called him the Boss.
"He was elated to receive that call.
"I spoke to Sir Alex and he said my dad was a wonderful man and we are a strong family to support him."
