A BUDDING young artist’s picture depicting what he loves most about Altrincham is to be seen by thousands of Tesco shoppers after he won a bag design competition.
Eight-year-old Joshua Hill, of Well Green Primary School, Hale, has also bagged £500 for his school and a £25 gift card for himself.
Children throughout the area were invited to enter the competition to draw a picture showing why they love Altrincham.
The winning poster, of an alternative town crest featuring the clock tower and a Tesco store inside a giant love heart, has been transferred onto thousands of limited edition hessian bags, which are being given away free in the Tesco stores.

Altrincham Tesco Extra manager, James Piercy, said: “We had a great response to the competition and we really loved Joshua’s design. The new bags look fantastic and we are sure they will go down with a treat our customers.”
The competition was organised by the Tesco stores in Altrincham as part of its commitment to encourage community involvement.
Well Green Primary School headteacher, Kate Markham, said: “The children enjoyed entering the competition and we are all very proud of Joshua. We would like to thank Tesco for inviting us to enter and for the wonderful prize. Everyone loves the bags and staff, parents and pupils are looking forward to using them.”
