OLD Trafford-based audio branding specialist PHMG has raised a bumper sum for charity.

Employees from the company’s offices around the worlddonated more than £10,000 worth of toys, gifts and food items as part of ‘The Toy and Food Appeal’, a company-wide initiative to help those most in need.

The donations – including 453.55kg of food, enough to make 1,404 meals – were given to six worthy causes, such as Manchester South Central Foodbank and the Salvation Army in Manchester, and were delivered to children and young people from deprived families.

Chris Berisford, finance director at PHMG and PHMG Foundation trustee, said: "It’s great to be able to give something back to the community.”

Lt Col David Jones at the Salvation Army added: “You have no idea what a difference this will make.”

More than 220 PHMG employees across six territories – Manchester, London, Chicago, Washington DC, New York City and Toronto – also took part in their Global Santa Dash, the biggest festive fun run in which participants take to the streets in a Father Christmas outfit.

The global five-kilometre race allowed staff to raise almost £7,000 and will be donated to charities such as the Christie Hospital charity, Cystic Fibrosis Trust and the Alzheimer’s Society.

Both events took place under the banner of the company’s charity, PHMG Foundation, which has raised more than £125,000 for numerous charities since 2013.
