BE prepared to be swept off your feet at the Trafford Centre this Christmas.

The opening of intu Trafford Centre’s festive wheel is just around the corner.

At more than 35 metres high, the wheel gives unparalleled views of the Bridgewater Canal, Media City, Old Trafford and the Trafford Centre itself.

It is the UK’s largest transportable observational wheel and will be illuminated at night with the same state-of-the-art floodlighting used at Manchester United’s Old Trafford ground.

Located in the Orient car park by Frankie & Benny’s restaurant, the wheel will accommodate up to 144 shoppers at any one time and the journey will last around 10 minutes.

Opening Friday November 11 until Sunday January 8, a trip on the wheel will cost £5 per adult, £4 per child, with a family ticket costing £15. Shoppers can just show-up on the day.

Richard Paxton, general manager at intu Trafford Centre, said: “The intu Christmas wheel is the perfect addition to the centre this season – it will offer a real bird’s eye view of the surrounding area.

"It’s just one of the fantastic experiences we’ve got planned for families over the festive period.”

The wheel will open from Friday November 11 to Friday December 9, Monday through Friday, from 11am to 10am; Saturdays from 11am to 9pm; and Sundays from 11am to 7pm.

From Saturday December 10 until Sunday January 8 2017, Monday through Friday 10am to 11pm; Saturdays from 10am to 10pm and Sundays 11am to 7pm. It will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day but will reopen on Boxing Day, from 10am to 5pm. On New Year’s Eve, the wheel will open from 10am to 5pm and on New Year’s Day, from 12noon to 6pm.
