ALTRINCHAM and District Rambling Club (ADRC) enjoyed a full programme of events throughout September, as it celebrated 60 years of fantastic walking opportunities and lasting friendships - and the sun shone on every outdoor event.
These included rambles to all the memorial benches, tables and signposts dedicated to previous active members of the club, and a ‘Party in the Park’ in Lyme Park, where three separate groups enjoyed walks of different lengths and met for cakes and “bubbly” to round off a great day. On another sunny day three similar groups met at the Founders Bench dedicated to club founder Russell Marsh, on the Sett Valley Trail outside Hayfield, where they were treated to an interesting description of the club’s founding and early days by Russell’s daughter, Gill Wetters, also one of the founding members. This was followed by great walks in this very attractive area. The final event was a celebratory dinner at Altrincham Football Club.
