FORMER Altrincham College student Jordanna Bartlett has touched down in Rio to compete in the Paralympics.
Jordanna Bartlett secured a place on Team GB’s wheelchair basketball team for this year’s Paralympic Games, September 7-18.
The Altrincham College alumna, who studied for a National Diploma in Sport and Exercise, had helped to organise a wheelchair basketball session at the school so her peers could experience a disability sport first-hand. She also competed in the U25’s wheelchair basketball squad at the World Championships in Canada in July 2012.
Headteacher Peter Brooks stated: “Jordanna could be quite modest about her achievements, and what seemed ‘normal’ for her could be quite unique to many people. She inspired achievement within her peers and was an excellent role model.
"It was one of Jordanna’s ambitions to represent Great Britain at the 2016 Paralympics and we are so proud she has succeeded in this. We will be cheering on Great Britain for gold.”
