AS part of the weekly craft activity afternoon at Bickham House residential care home in Bowdon, residents have recently enjoyed making their own personal table placemats.
Using all sorts of materials, from paint to glitter, the project encouraged creative input from each resident.
The project was so popular that it will be repeated throughout the seasons of the year, when residents will be encouraged to design and create their own placemats to represent summer, autumn and winter.
Manager Cathy Myers said: “Residents’ activities like these aid memory recall, acting as a prompt to present time and situation.
“Often residents are housebound and the seasons can pass by for them unnoticed. This project helps prompt recall of pleasant memories of the special character of the seasons of the year. Residents are already looking forward to making their summer placemats.”
