AMBA restaurant in Hale has been shortlisted in the UK’s top hospitality awards.

The restaurant is nominated for ‘Best Independent Marketing Campaign’ at the Cateys, which are organised by Caterer and Hotelkeeper magazine.

Amba has been nominated for its marketing and PR campaign surrounding the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in 2012.

Head chef, Peter Rowley and proprietor, Ryland Wakeham, created a retro Coronation four course banquet based on the menu served to the Queen on her Coronation in 1953.

Dishes included a galette of Scottish smoked salmon with cucumber gazpacho and National Park rump steak with spicy coronation chutney.

Ryland Wakeham, proprietor of Amba, said: “We are honoured to be on the short list for this award. The Cateys are the ‘Oscars’ of the catering world and it’s fantastic to be representing the restaurant trade in the North West.”
