BREAKFAST radio broadcaster Phil Trow is preparing for one of his longest days ever as he joins this year’s Manchester Midnight Walk as host.

The presenter, who normally heads to bed early so he can get up at 4.30am for his morning radio show on BBC Radio Manchester, will be staying up late on Friday (June 19) to take part in the star-lit 10k fundraising walk for St Ann’s Hospice.

Sale resident Phil said: “I’m normally well and truly asleep by midnight, but it’s definitely worth staying up late to take part in the walk.

"By the end of it I will have been up for almost 24 hours, but it’ll be worth it if it means I can help St Ann’s smash their fundraising target.

“I’m really looking forward to hosting the stage at the event and I’m sure the crowds will keep me awake. I’ve not been involved with the Walk before, but I’ve heard it’s a fun event, and Mr Motivator is doing the warm up so I’m sure after a few star jumps I’ll be raring to go!”

Last year’s walk attracted more than 2000 people who raised £270,000 for St Ann’s.

* Entry is £20; £15 for past walkers and £10 if aged 11 to 17. To register go to www.mmwalk.org.uk or call the St Ann's fundraising team on 0161 498 3631.
