Bring Your Dog to Work Day has become a regular occurrence for many people who work in an office and in many other locations since its inception in 2014.

Started by the ethical pet product company HOWND, the day is described on its website as an "annual nationwide event that raises money for charities dedicated to making a difference to the welfare of animals."

This year the day is helping to raise funds for three charities in All Dogs Matter, Animals Asia and Surge Sanctuary.

To donate to the charities you can visit the Bring Your Dog to Work Day website here.

For those who wish to partake in the day by bringing their dog into their place of work, the charity Dogs Trust has some pieces of advice ahead of the day.

When is Bring Your Dog to Work Day?

The day takes place on Friday, June 24.

Advice for owners for Bring Your Dog to Work Day

In a tweet Dogs Trust labelled four tips that they recommended owners keep in mind ahead of the day:

  • Create a safe space for them to rest
  • Trial a visit to the office
  • Pop posters in the office with some info about your pooch
  • Identify potential stressors

Making sure your dog is acclimatised in some way to your workplace is a great benefit.

On the Dogs Trust website, it says: "Make sure your dog has a safe space to rest in, ideally with as much room as possible between other visiting doggos.

"Creating this type of den by your desk is a great idea to keep space and prevent dogs from roaming too far."

Additionally, staying attuned to your dog's needs is also important so they don't stress out, and helping your colleagues understand about a dog's body language can also help the day go smoothly.
