A SALE mum is following in her own mum’s footsteps by becoming a yoga teacher.
Claire Pikin, 38, from Wythenshawe Road, had her first go at yoga aged 10 with mum Barbara Basketter, 65, from Old Hall Road - who has over 25 years of teaching experience - but didn’t decide she also wanted to teach until recently.
Claire and Barbara are both yoga enthusiasts who teach classes at LA Fitness in Sale and Barbara also runs a class at Sale United Reform Church on Montague Road.
Now the mum-of-two is branching out on her own and taught her first class at Sale Moor Methodist Church on Northenden Road between 8.15pm and 9.30pm on March 17.
“The British School of Yoga were very impressed to see a mother and a daughter - I don’t know whether it’s unique but possibly is for this area.
“Mum is extremely fit. I still go to her classes because with yoga you never stop learning about it.
“It’s just beneficial for the mind, body and spirit, that’s what yoga is all about,” she said.
