PUPILS at St. Vincent’s Catholic Primary School have been practising the ‘gift of giving’.

The Altrincham school works very closely with Cornerstone Day Centre in Manchester which provide services for vulnerable and disadvantaged adults and the children have collected together gifts of essentials for the people who use the centre.

Each box is decorated in Christmas wrapping by the Mini Vinnies and will be delivered to the centre this week in plenty of time for Christmas.

Charitable works are one of the key duties of the Mini Vinnies group at St. Vincent’s.

Children across the school are actively involved in planning and running events for a number of charities.

St. Vincent’s Anita Harrop meets regularly with the group.

She said: “The work of the Mini Vinnies is a vital part of our school’s mission of letting your light shine.

"I am very proud of the children and staff at St. Vincent’s and the way in which they are always so eager to help those less fortunate.

"We have been amazed by the response to this appeal and thank parents for their generosity at this busy and often expensive time of the year."
