An innovative pair of brothers from Sale have launched an iPhone application designed to speed up the architectural design process.

Following 18 months of development Tim and Paul Barnard, 23 and 26, released the SitePAD app two weeks ago after Apple decided to make it available on iTunes.

Paul was delighted with the progress so far. He said: “It feels great to have it out there and we’re very proud. Since it went live we’ve been very busy and have had some really positive feedback.”

Architects and surveyors can download the app to their iPhone or iPod to draw CAD format plans and send them back to the office instantly, via the SitePAD website.

The brothers run their company Fresh Design Base from their Sale home, after dreaming up the idea when Tim, currently in his eighth year of studying to be an architect, commented on how inefficient the process of converting hand-drawn site sketches to CAD drawings was.

The app costs £5.99 to download, and access to the SitePAD website costs £15 a month. A month-long free trial of the website is available.
