ALTRINCHAM and Sale Chamber Of Commerce is celebrating 110 years of supporting local businesses.

To mark this prestigious milestone, the chamber is holding a 110th celebratory dinner, which will take place on Friday, February 21 at the Cresta Court Hotel.

The guest speaker for the event will be the chamber’s patron, Sir Graham Brady MP.

The evening will include the inauguration of the new president, Sue Aldridge and president elect, Alex Evans, by the Mayor of Trafford, Cllr Rob Chilton.

Sue Aldridge follows a long list of successful business people who have held this prestigious honour.

Sue said “ It is an honour to follow in the footsteps of such great businesspeople.

“The first president was Mr R Gatley, who held this position in 1910.

“In 1963 Mr B D Morrison was president and was from one of the oldest estate agencies in Altrincham.

“To my knowledge this chamber is the oldest business support organisation in the area.

“The chamber is central to business support, whether for a new business start-up or a well-established business with years of trading.

“Many organisations have benefitted over the years from our help and hopefully will do in the future.

“I am delighted to be part of the Chamber of Commerce and what it represents.”

Alex Evans added: “It is a privilege to be asked to take on this role, especially in the 110th year of its existence.

“I would like to use this as an opportunity to engage further with the Sale business community and help provide more support to fit their local needs.

“As a local businessman I understand that the business environment is changing constantly and the chamber has helped me over the years to keep up to date with these changes. ”

The Chamber of Commerce has approximately 200 members from the Sale and Altrincham area.

They ranged in different sizes from start-up businesses to large national companies, variety of sectors including financial, marketing, hospitality, property, legal.
