PROPERTY developer Altin Homes has partnered with children from Sale Grammar School, who have designed and created a bespoke plaque for the developer’s Northenden Road development, The Place.
The location of The Place has a long-standing history in the local community.
In 1896 Park House, a property located historically on the site, was leased to create Sale Girls High School and Kindergarten.
This was the birth place of Sale Grammar School, which is now located nearby on Marsland Road.
To commemorate the site’s long history, Altin Homes enlisted the help of Sale Grammar School sixth form art students, who designed and created a unique plaque which will be mounted at the entrance of the development.
Design director of Altin Homes, Yousef Mousavi explained, “When we first designed the development we wanted the 24 properties to complement the local area. We understood the importance of remembering the site’s rich history and wanted to create a place that the local community would feel proud of.
“We enlisted the help of Sale Grammar School’s sixth form students, who have created a completely unique piece of art that will sit proudly at the entrance of our development. The students have been a pleasure to work with and are a credit to the school.”
Two of the school’s pupils, Stephanie Chiu and Jarrod Townson visited Altin Homes’ site recently to hand over the plaque.
Philippa McLean, faculty leader in the rts at Sale Grammar School, said, “Our students have enjoyed designing and developing the plaque. The opportunity to work with Altin Homes on a commissioned brief was something that they found particularly inspirational.”
Sale Grammar School was recently rated outstanding by Ofsted.
