1. Dr Catherine Regan CAMHS discussion: Explained what CAMHS is. An NHS service referred via doctors and social workers. Up to 18 with mental health, behaviour and relationship problems. Mostly talking but occasionally medication is needed. Young people can access services at the CAMHS base in Old Trafford or at other places such as schools or Talkshop. After they turn 18 sometimes referred to adult services or to 42nd Street in Manchester. Asked about their relationship with schools: Not directly involved in schools. Schools can pay for counselling services from organisations such as relate. Nobody from CAMHS based in schools. Question about self harm: School nurses have training in working with young people who self harm. If it is serious they can get in touch with CAMHS. Question about young people with autism or Aspergers: They are often involved in diagnosis but will only be involved if the young person needs them. Ideas from youth cabinet to CAMHS: Go into schools to teach young people about what they do. Raise awareness. Be more open. Update leaflets and websites to be young people friendly. Get a facebook group or page. Could change the name? Catherine to came back and ask cabinet for feedback on the feedback they get from service users. Cabinet thanked Catherine for attending.

2. Youth Service review questionnaire: Cabinet filled in youth service review questionnaire. Cabinet not impressed with the questionnaire: confusing and too long 3. Campaign areas questionnaire: Mark has been working with the Youth Offending Team who have bought a software package which can improve questionnaires. Mark has sent our questionnaire and hopefully the firm will upload it for us.

4. UKYP national sitting: Need to book this asap. Chris to let Mark know if he can go if not Shereen and Natasha to toss a coin to attend.

5. Davyhulme Youth Centre update: Trying to reschedule meeting 6. Youth Cabinet exchange: Will bring this up at Youthforia next week.

7. Manor High School update: Mark has contact Manor High and is awaiting response.

8. Local Councillor Shadowing Award: Mark to find out the Councillor for those interested: Chris T Shereen Katie Naadhirah Marike Natasha Surabhi Sacha Lauren Harina Chris P 9. Alcohol consultation feedback: Enjoyed the session but they didn’t explain why they were doing it. It was mainly stereotyping young people and we didn’t learn anything.

10. British Youth Council Convention August 11th: Mark has booked four places.

14. Government policy on youth decision making. Mark to put survey on facebook and in email.

15. Evaluating new services update (Services for young carers and siblings of children with CAN/ Promoting positive behaviours and preparing for adulthood: Deferred until next meeting 16. Greater Manchester transport plan: Deferred until next meeting 17. School nurses research: Mark has obtained a NW regional consultation report on school nurses. Will present to cabinet and then we can invite head of school nurses to cabinet.

20. AOB: Member would like to discuss being a witness and how young people are treated by the police.
