TRAFFORD's former young citizen of the year has written a book about her life so far living with Neurofibromatosis (N.F) and scoliosis.
Kirsty Ashton, 21 in April, started writing the book titled ‘Kirsty’s Story’ when she was 9 and finished in December last year.
Kirsty was diagnosed with N.F when she was just 11 weeks old and due to the tumours on her spine the condition has gone on to cause scoliosis.
Kirsty said: “The book contains a number of things like my Doctors comments from the past, what I like to do for fun, things about my health and life in general so far.”
With at least one tumour on every nerve on her spine and many more internal tumours Kirsty must attend hospital almost weekly and has done for many years.
Proud mum Julie Ashton said: “Kirsty is trying to raise a further £85,000 with sales from the book so that she can send 30/40 very poorly children and their families to Centre Parc’s for a five day holiday.”
Kirsty, who lives with her family in Wythenshawe, Manchester, is currently studying to be a teaching assistant at the Altrincham college of Arts.
Julie added: “Even though Kirsty is in pain she is always thinking of others and has already raised over £84.000 for the charity When You Wish Upon A Star.”
The book is on sale now and can be bought from www.authorhouse.co.uk for £7.90 soft back or £12.50 hard back. Signed copies are available from www.kirstysstory.co.uk
