The new MYPs are, 14 year old Naadhirah Dudha from Stretford High School and 17 year-old Chris Pike from Altrincham Boys Grammar School. They’ll be supported by Deputy MYPs Angelica Bhatt (16, Altrincham Girls), Matthew Bowcott (17, City of Manchester College), Shereen Patel (14, Altrincham Girls) and Natasha Whitham (14, Ashton-on-Mersey).

In addition to their local campaigning, all six will represent Trafford at the annual regional residential meeting in November. This will give them opportunities to work with their regional colleagues on key issues, something they are all looking forward to.

Chris and Naadhirah will also attend the national UK Youth Parliament sitting, bringing together MYPs from across the country to work together on national campaigning issues. A highlight of this will be the annual House of Commons debate. This year marks the third occasion UK Youth Parliament will debate in the chamber, indeed the third time anyone apart from MPs have been allowed to do so.

MYP Chris Pike said: "Naadhirah and I are delighted to have been elected. While we look forward to taking our views to a higher level and trying to get a better deal for young people nationally, we see our priority as here in Trafford. We want to support the Youth Cabinet in campaigning for young people here. The more young people get involved with the Youth Cabinet, the more influence we can have."
