Travel agency Carlton Travel runs a first class business, says one satisfied customer.

Carlton Travel has been arranging holidays for customers in Sale for 24 years, and a reader reckons the travel agent's pleasant attitude and friendly attitude towards its customers makes it a prime candidate for our Counter Action 'roll of honour'.

Director Ken Garrity said: "We have lots of regular customers, and even invited 12 of our best regulars to a special promotion evening recently to reward them for their continual custom."

Ken and his staff love to chat with their customers. Ken said: We like to go the extra mile by talking to our clients, we've all travelled and try to pass on our extensive knowledge".

He remembers one particular customer, an 84-year-old lady who was travelling abroad, to America for the first time. He says: "We get a lot of people in who haven't really travelled before and like to give them confidence by talking to them about where they are going."

The shop has three members of staff, Judith Loftin, Laura Doyle and Ken.

Ken said of the nomination: "We are absolutely delighted, we get people sending us postcards from all around the world - to thank us for our service."

Readers Professor and Mrs Gregory, who nominated the shop said: "We recently booked a holiday with them and were very pleasantly surprised with their attitude - friendly and very efficient but done with such quiet modesty. A rare thing these days, with some staff in companies it is hard work to get them to smile even though you are doing business with them.

They really do deserve recognition, it was a delight to come across such helpful yet unassuming people."
