A MESSENGER reader reckons she has the answer to the mystery of the bright lights in the sky that were spotted by residents in Sale and Altrincham.
Messenger reported last week the reports of the lights that were seen on August 7 - with one witness describing 'delta-like wings'.
But the reader said: "Think you'll find the bright lights that appeared in the sky were being launched from a house on Hale Road at around 10pm.
"They were lanterns celebrating the departure of friends who have lived in the area for 15 years who are moving down to Devon.
"No craft, no reflection and no delta like wings."
