Ever wanted to play with Woody, Buzz and all the gang? No, we don’t mean just control them in a videogame, but actually play with them.

You know, enter their imaginary world and have adventures. The game of Toy Story 3 lets you do this, in a special mode called Woody’s Roundup, and it’s the most fun you’ll have this summer!

Controlling Woody, Buzz or Jessie (and Zurg on PS3) you’re free to wander around a dusty cowboy town. Stinky Pete talks you through some basic stuff, and then it’s up to you what happens next. You can earn gold by mining it from the ground, or by performing missions for the little plastic townspeople, and then spend it on new buildings, new areas and even little cars to whizz around in. The more stuff you unlock, the more things you’ll find to do.

There are over 100 background challenges to complete, and you’ll achieve lots of them just from messing around and exploring. Others require you to use your camera to snap pics of weird things, or do special stunts in the cars. It’s loads of fun, and because there are no levels or time limits, you can just enjoy yourself, customising the buildings and dressing up the little toy people and three-eyed aliens in daft costumes.

You also get a more traditional Story Mode, which takes you through a series of run and jump levels based on the cool new movie, but these aren’t nearly as interesting as what’s happening in Woody’s Roundup. Although they look amazing, the controls can be fiddly and too many of these levels go on too long, forcing you to keep plugging away at annoying sections. There is a generous help system though, which will show you the solution to tricky puzzles and make the game easier if you really struggle.

The story stuff is what you’d probably expect from a game based on a big movie, but it’s the free-roaming world of Woody’s Roundup that will keep you coming back for more. Pulling you into the world of toys better than any game before it, any Toy Story fan should check it out!
