LOCK an animal in a car during mild or warm weather and you're putting its life at risk.

That's the grim warning from Petline organiser Chris Butterworth who says pets can die of the heat even if a window is left open.

According to Chris, it can take as little as half an hour for the temperature in a vehicle to kill a pet.

'Even if you're going out for ten minutes don't do it, because you can get delayed. Leave your animals at home', she says.

On a happier note, 23 cats and seven dogs have been re-united with their relieved owners.
