TRAFFORD AC senior women's squad finished off their season in magnificent fashion in the Jubilee Cup final at Bedford.

Though short of six athletes the depleted squad performed heroically and were in contention right to the final events when forced to concede to giants Shaftesbury Barnet.

Top performer of the day was again Janine Whitlock who after a comfortable win in the pole vault went on to devastate Britain's top sprinters in both 100m and 200m.

How the GB selectors can leave Janine out of the World Championship relay team in beyond anyone's understanding.

Jo Mahony ran a solid race to finish third in the 400m hurdles and recovery time was too short for her to give her best in the 400m.
