A CRICKET lover from Sale is set for the trip of a lifetime after scooping first prize in a television competition.

Adrienne Rutter from Arran Avenue will fly to South Africa to see the England cricket team start their winter tour in November.

She says that she is still in shock after the win.

The lucky lady scooped the all-expenses paid eight-day-long trip to the city of Johannesburg by winning a Channel 4 competition run during it's coverage of the Third Test at Old Trafford.

Adrienne was lucky enough to be selected from thousands of entries.

She told SAM: "I still can't believe that I have won the trip but I am really looking forward to going even though it is beyond comprehension.

"I have never phoned in to a competition like this before but was watching the coverage one night and thought that the question was too easy not to enter - although I couldn't have dreamt of winning."

Adrienne has been an avid cricket fan for years and has been a member at Lancashire CCC as well as attending Old Trafford Test Matches.

And although she says that she very rarely wins anything, on a previous raffle draw she scooped a trip to Canada enjoying a holiday in Vancouver as her prize.

She went on: "It was very surprising to find out I had won as I didn't watch the actual highlights programme when the announcement was made - but I had a message on my answerphone from the production company.

"Now I am waiting for the itinerary which includes five days hospitality at the Test Match and a celebrity dinner as well."

Adrienne will also have double reason to celebrate as she marks her 60th birthday whilst in South Africa and she is hoping to take her son Simon along with her.

She added: "I had already booked the week off for my birthday and it has worked out nicely on that front.

"Hopefully Simon will be able to come along with me as he is a keen sportsman himself and would no doubt enjoy the occasion."
