I WAS pleased to see your report on the derelict site at Flixton Station.

As a ward councillor I have been involved with this matter right from the start.

I have worked continuously with our Area Board manager to keep up pressure on all parties concerned (Rail Track, First North West Train and Greenhalls).

There have been many difficulties along the way regarding insurance, leases and finally the taking over of Greenhalls by Scottish and Newcastle.

I hope we are now nearly out of the woods but I was told on April 26 that there is still some difference of opinion as to who is responsible for overseeing of the demolition.

I keep my fingers firmly crossed that this can be quickly resolved for reasons of safety at the removal of the eyesore.

As to the site being used as a car park, I do not feel this should be the final use of the site, partially because of the dangerous entrance and the fact those who live in Flixton know the problems the nearby car park causes at night. I wonder if some houses would be an idea?

I strongly believe that residents of the area should be able to express their views.

If those who wish to make any suggestions would care to write to me or visit my surgery at Flixton House on the last Thursday of the month betweem 6-7pm.

I will ensure their views are passed on to the relevant persons.

I would in conclusion like to thank publically our Area Board manager for the first class support she has given myself and the people of Flixton with this matter.

Roy Seddon, Flixton ward
