The visiting side won the toss and elected to bat.

A fierce opening spell form Peter Stamper and Mark Hughes, did nothing to dissuade anyone that Deane and Derby were winding up to post an impressive total.

The introduction of Mike King and Dave Glick brought about the dismissal of Deane and Derby professional Amer Gangat, who had notched up a useful 59.

Dean and Derby were pegged back to 163 for 6 due to equal amounts of tight bowling combined with superb ground fielding from Flixton.

Chief tormerntor was King, who returned impressive figures of 4-44.

Flixton's reply started very tentatively, as they chased the target of 164.

A superb third wicket partnership of 77 in 16 overs between Ian Jackson with 34, and Mike King, who posted 52, brought Flixton within sight of the finishing line.

Two quick wickets however saw Flixton's grip loosen somewhat until an assured fifth wicket partnership between Ian Davis with 28 not out, and Vice Captain Andy Gill (17no) brought Flixton home with eight balls so spare.

Flixton's 2nd travelled north to meet Bury. Flixton won the toss and asked Bury to bat.

Tight bowling and good fielding restricted Bury to 110 all out in 50 overs.

The highlights of the fielding were the two catches by Niel Moors in the deep from towering shots, and the ground fielding of Matt Carlton on his debut.

Ray Millward added to his tally of wickets with 7 for 61 well supported by Matt Carlton 1/27 and George De'Ath 2/15.

In reply Flixton found runs hard to get.

The opening partnership of 33 ended when George De'Ath was caught for 13.

Colin Monk continued to hold the side together scoring a well grafted 46, whilst wickets fell at the other end.

It was left to Paul Haines to get Flixton home in the last over.

Flixton winning by 3 wickets in an excellent game played in good spirit by both teams.
