WE wonder how anyone could dream of delivering 'Trafford News' to the residents of Altrincham who have not had, nor will have, any say whatsoever in its future.

There may have been consultations - but no notice has been taken of the views of local people. It would seem Altrincham is being developed with the sole hope of enticing people from other areas. What is wrong with their own towns and why does Trafford expect them to flood to Altrincham.

When Altrincham was the so-called 'jewel in the crown' of the borough it was a prosperous residential market town and not the office town full of empty shops that it has become. And worse still, the proposals for Tesco which will devastate many of the few shops left.

The Altrincham that Trafford inherited does not exit anymore and is not likely ever to be rekindled. The council has lowered the character of the town and to talk of its heritage is pure hypocrisy.

We would have liked affordable houses on Manor Road, a cinema, a replacement for our local Stamford Hall and a place for temporary parking in front of the bus and rail interchange.

The people of South Trafford are appealing to Trafford Council against several proposed developments - Clarence Road, Stamford Park and Aimson Road spring to mind immedfiately. We ask why a few remote people should be allowed to decide about unwanted developments against the wishes of the rate payers?
