CLLR Stephen Adshead is operating a 'Not in my Back Yard' policy when he says 'everyone is a winner' as regards the planned Carrington Park and Ride sceheme.

How does he think the cars will get to Carrington? They will still clog up main roads through Bowdon, Altrincham and Broadheath.

And when they finally struggle through to Sale they will presumably be directed along Harboro Road - but will quickly find short cuts up Woodhouse Lane, The Avenue and Manor Avenue to avoid traffic on the A56.

Park and Ride schemes are usually on the main routes into cities, but before the suburbs and not right in the heart of them. Even Cllr Gratrix ('Broadheath is not leafy Bowdon') must agree.

Is it not time to re-plan the western by-pass to serve this scheme and the Carrington Transport Interchange from the M56 and M6. I'm sure The Reds would like to contribute.
