I WAS pleased to read in SAM last week that Clr David Acton says that Trafford councillors have to make planning decisions based on the borough's Unitary Development Plan - because the Clarence Road planning applicaton is in breach of the plan.
The UDP states that buildings should respect the character of the area and the amenities of neighbours, which two three storey blocks of flats built on garden areas clearly would not.
The application is also in serious breach of Trafford's own planning guidelines on many counts.
Cllr Acton also mentions area board meetings where members of the public can discuss applications with planning officers and councillors. The next Altrincham area meeting is on June 6 at Altrincham library, so I advise anyone concerned about the Clarence Road application and the general over-development of Hale to accept his invitation and tell the council their views.
