EIGHTIES record transfer fee signing Steve Daley is helping St Ambrose College to send their record breaking under 14 and under 15 rugby sides on a once in life trip to Canada.

Manchester City's £1.5 million man will be the guest speaker at a Sportsman Dinner to raise funds for the tour.

The event at the College in leafy Hale Barns on Friday, June 9, will also feature top comic Barry Morris.

Between them both these young and talented sides lost only one game last year, also lifting the Trafford Schools Sevens tournament at both age levels.

A party of 50 boys and four staff will make trip to Vancouver on a special invite to play in one of the country's top youth rugby festivals, with other games against the province's top club and school teams.

St Ambrose College's Director of Sport, Nigel Handy, said: "Rugby is a rapidly developing sport in Canada and the trip should be both a great sporting and cultural experience."

Mr Handy added: "St Ambrose College is particularly strong at these age levels and we will travel to Vancouver with the aim of winning the tournament and further developing these boys' skills, desire and team spirit."

Tickets are £25 and can be obtained from Nigel Handy at St Ambrose College on on 0161 980 2711.
