RESIDENTS in Partington could soon be setting their watches to a new timepiece.

For there are plans in place to build a millennium clock right in the heart of the village.

The new freestanding clock will be sited in front of the Greyhound pub at the junction of Manchester Road and Manchester New Road if consent is passed.

The plan is among the latest batch of applications lodged with Trafford Borough Council - details of which are now available for inspection during normal office hours at Trafford Direct 2000 at Sale Town Hall, Tatton Road, Sale.

Trafford Park: Change of part use from General Industrial (Class B2) to Industrial (Class B2) with Storage and Distribution (Class B8) at Unit 15, Severnside Trading Estate, Textilose Road (H49568).

Urmston: Single-storey rear extension to form conservatory and w.c. at 81 Humphrey Lane (H49565); single-storey side extensions to provide a garage at the side and a front porch at 30 Davyhulme Road (H49566); erection of detached garage accessed from Urmston Park at 112 Railway Road (H49585).

Flixton: Erection of one block of four flats with associated car parking at The Uplands, Calderbank Avenue (H49564); erection of single-storey sports pavilion at Woodsend Crescent Road (H/LPA/49587).
