PARENTS and youngsters are being asked to give their views on the final design for a flagship facility for children at Trafford General Hospital.

A separate six room section for children will be opened in Trafford General's upgraded accident and emergency department.

The Oliver's Army group - which campaigns to improve children's health services in the area - is raising £8,000 to make the area as 'child friendly' as possible by providing furniture, toys and decorating the unit.

And now Oliver's Army wants to know which of three possible designs children and parents would like the area to be decorated with. They can vote for a jungle scene, ocean scene or Pooh corner.

The design that gets the most votes will cover the walls and floor and follow the route to the X-ray department.

Parents and children are also being asked what type of computer and other games the unit should have.

Oliver's Army founder Angela Gray says: "This is going to be a flagship facility and we want to hear from parents and children about its design."

The search is on for joiners to build a stand for the TV and games free of charge.

Oliver's Army is about halfway to hitting its target and the group will be out and about at the summer festivals collecting more cash. It is appealing for face painters who will give their services free of charge to help the fundraising drive and car boot sale organisers ready to offer the group a pitch free of charge.

Anyone who would like to voice their views on the design of the new unit, or help Oliver's Army, should call Angela on 748 0017.
