TRAFFORD'S preparations for the Greater Manchester Youth Games are well underway.

Trafford Netball Club are again heavily involved by coaching the under 15 and under 13 teams.

The squad has been assembled through valuable links with schools and clubs both of which benefited from a high five netball camp over the half term.

Last Friday, a dozen schools descended on Heywood Road, home of the Sale Sharks, for a primary school mixed tag rugby festival.

Winners Park Road Timperley will represent Trafford in the under 11s tag rugby.

Girls' cricket has taken off in Trafford.

Over the last few months Lancashire Development Annesley Desilva has been coaching in Jeff Joseph Techincal school and Flixton Girls High School.

Young people with disabilities are also high on the agenda of the Trafford team with the youth games providing competition in boccia, swimming and athletics.

The Trafford team has also hit the jackpot for this year's games by securing the sponsoriship of Xerox UK Limited.

The much-needed funds will be used to upgrade kit, buy equipment, pay for facility hire and help transport the 450 strong team up to Wigan.

The athletics, basketball, girls football, hockey, tennis, table tennis and volleyball trials are all taking place later this month.
