ON SATURDAY Altrincham and District Athletic Club took part in a Northern Men's Track and Field League match at Bebington where it poured down with rain all afternoon, sometimes torrential.

Altrincham showed great team spirit to take 3rd place, almost catching Wigan.

Andy Parker stormed to victory in the 200 metres, came 2nd on his debut in the 400 metres hurdles and took 3rd places in both the 100 metres and long jump.

David Norman raced away from the rest of the field to convincingly win the 5,000 metres with Pete Milligan winning th B race.

Neil Eccles drove up from London and arrived just in time to run the 800 metres B race in which he took 3rd place and although very tired, he then proceeded to win the 1500 metres B race.

Andy Norman ran well to take 2nd place in both the 800 metres and 1500 metres clocking the same time as the winner.

Graham Watson ran a well judged race to come through strongly to take 2nd place in the 3,000 metres steeplechase.

Stuart Moss came 2nd in the triple jump and 400 metres hurdles B race and came 5th in both the discus and high jump B events.

Danny Wilson came 2nd in both the 200 metres B race and the B Long Jump as well as coming 4th in the 110 metres hurdles and 5th in the 100 metres B race.

Chris Walton performed well to take 2nd place in the hammer and then took 4th place in the B Javelin and 5th places in both the discus and shot.

Adam Wareing took 2nd place in the B triple jump and came 3rd in the 3,000 metres steeplechase B race and 110 metres hurdles B race.

Barry Chapman came 4th in the Javelin and 5th in the B shot.

In torrential rain, Barry Chapman, Danny Wilson, Adam Wareing and Andy Parker splashed their way to 5th place in the 4 x 100 metres relay.

The 4 x 400 metres relay team of Steve Cowlishaw, Stuart Moss, Andy Norman and Andy Parker took 3rd place after dropping the baton on the first takeover.
