A MOTHER has paid a glowing tribute to her husband who died on Wednesday last week following a road traffic accident.

Nathanial Anderton, 38, who was known as John, lived on Bent Lanes with his wife of five and a half years, Beverley, and their 18-month-old daughter Lauren.

Beverley, an administrator for a car dealership said: "John was a fantastic man, fun-loving and easy going, but particularly great with children.

"He was a brilliant father to Lauren, who now misses her dad terribly.

"She saw him off on his fishing trip on Monday morning, I've tried to explain to her what has happened, but she misses him and just keeps asking for him."

John was a keen fisherman and had planned to spend the bank holiday weekend with two friends at Goose Green, near Macclesfield.

But, as he helped to load a friend's kit into his van on the Kingsway in Burnage, on Wednesday last week, a collision occurred with a passing car.

John and a 45-year-old friend were taken to hospital in a critical condition.

John died two days later and his friend is still very poorly.

Beverley continued: "John wasn't a very good fisherman, in fact the picture shows him on one of the only occasions he ever caught anything, but he loved doing it and went as often as he could.

"He enjoyed being active and was a black belt, second Dan at Karate.

"He and I met on a blind date 11 years ago in June. He was the sort of person who was liked by everyone who ever met him. I will miss and never forget him."

The accident, which involved a stationary Ford transit van and a Ford Granada driven by a 29 year old man from Cheadle Hulme occurred at 5.30am on the Kingsway near the junction with Fairmile Drive in Burnage.

Officers investigating the collision are still appealing for witnesses.

Anyone who saw the accident is asked to contact the traffic unit on 856 6030.
