FOR THE first time in almost eight years, Montell Carrington RUFC turned out two teams last Saturday: the Chairman's XV played away against Leigh III's while the President's XV entertained Broughton Park III team.

Unfazed by Leigh scoring first, Montell carried the game to them and saw the benefit when Staniland finished off a fluent move.

After more good work in the scrum by Montell, Ramsay forced the ball over the line to put the Pigs ahead and with half time approaching, prop Etherson found himself playing scrum half at the back of a ruck and shipped a pass to Lowe who scored to extend their lead.

Leigh fought back well in the second half and scored with ten minutes gone leaving five points the difference and a nail biting last period of the game, Montell held on though, Brame and Brimelow leading the tackle count.

The President's XV faced Broughton Park and they found out that Park were a running team and they needed to be on their mettle to stop the advances of the quick backs.

Once they gained control of the ball, The Pigs found they were by far superior in the forward game, and keeping the ball tight worked their way down field to score, Davies charging in from 20 metres out.

Broughton proceeded to score three tries without reply through the speed of their backs.

Hutchinson then pulled a try back for Montell, which he duly converted, before Broughton got two more. After the interval Broughton breached Montell's defence again with fast hands in the backs to score under the posts.

Davies bagged his second, and the try of the match, after a flowing fifty yard move.

Neither side added to their scores in the remaining part of the game, Broughton eventually running out 37-17 winners.
