SALE Sharks entertain London Wasps on Saturday, in a match which could make or break their season.

After having occupied second spot behind runaway leaders Gloucester for most of the season, Sharks have slipped to third place after a home draw against Gloucester and an away defeat at the hands of Northampton Saints.

The team who have replaced them in second place are Wasps - the very side who have a dinner date at Heywood Road on Saturday.

The match, which kicks off at 5.15pm, will have a big say in who makes the Zurich Premiership final - the end of season play-off which will decide the English champions.

Gloucester cannot now be caught at the top - and so take their place in the final which will be played at Twickenham on May 31.

The second place team in the Zurich Premiership wins the right to home advantage for the semi-final, and Sharks will take a big step towards that with a win over Wasps.

One thing is for sure - if the Sharks win on Saturday, they will have secured a place from themselves in next season's Heineken European Cup, where they will be looking to make more of an impact than this season's underachieving campaign.
