LIVERPOOL'S Summer Pops looks like being the best yet with more heavyweight acts being announced for a full month of non-stop rock at Kings Dock. Massive artists from around the world will descend on Kings Dock between June 26 and July 28 and fans are already eagerly holding their breath to see performers like The Beach Boys, Deep Purple, Paul Weller and ghoulish rocker Alice Cooper.

Only last week, guitar maestro Eric Clapton was confirmed to appear with blues legend John Mayall during an exclusive evening for UNICEF.

Scousers Atomic Kitten will perform their biggest hometown show when they play at the Big Top on Friday, July 25. The feline trio starred at the Pops in 2001 alongside Mel C, but since then have outstripped their Liverpool rival to graduate into one of the UK pop scene's hottest properties.

Spanish crooner Julio Iglesias is pencilled in to prove his worth as pop's archetypal record breaker who, over his career, has released a staggering 77 albums - the most by any artist according to the Guinness Book of Records.

And the pending arrival of famous Modfather Paul Weller needs no introduction, standing as a true legend of British music, both as frontman of The Jam and The Style Council and a solo artist. Over the last decade, Weller has made his name with solo hits and albums that spawned classic releases like Wild Wood, Stanley Road, Heavy Soul and Heliocentric.

The full-line up is: Alice Cooper, Atomic Kitten, Blue, Busted, Carolyn Hester, Eddie Reader, James Brown, Joan Armatrading, Paul Weller, Peter Kay, Meat Loaf The Show, Simply Red, Status Quo, The Mavericks, Tiger Lillies, Simple Minds, ZZ Top, Level 42, Yes, Jools Holland & His Rhythm & Blues Orchestra, Julio Iglesias, The Beach Boys and The Sugababes.
