A 36-YEAR-old woman from Altrincham, who only went to play bingo to keep her mother company, ended up winning more than £202,000.

The lucky winner who has asked not to be named, scooped her massive prize at the Mecca Club in Sale.

It was the first time in eight years she had played bingo.

She said: "Fifteen years ago I used to work in a bingo club, selling tickets among other things. It certainly brought back memories. I will be sharing the money with my mum."

She won the national bingo game prize of £200,000, plus a regional prize of £2,045 and £71 winnings from the club. She completed a full house in 35 numbers, the lowest call in any of the 500 clubs nationwide.

The woman and her husband, who is a building surveyor, has a four-year-old son and a nine-month-old daughter.

She said: "My husband was at home babysitting while I went to bingo with my mum. She's been a bingo player for 40 years and goes regularly to the Mecca. She signed me in as a guest that night. It was such a shock when they announced how much I had won. Everyone was clapping me which I found embarrassing because I am a very shy person."

The youngest of five children, she is planning to treat her family before investing the rest of the money.

"I have told my mum that she and dad can only have half if they spend it on themselves. I want them to enjoy it, have holidays and things they couldn't have before."
