League Runners Up last season, Urmston Chess Club announced their intentions to be challenging again with a fine win at one of Greater Manchesters biggest, and tradionally strongest chess clubs.
1st Team Captain Denis Horton summed up his teams performance "This turned into the biggest comeback since Lazarus, as Urmston went 2 down early doors, closely followed by a draw from Phil.
Kieran stepped up and was home and hosed for 9-30 p.m. in a 26 move win. re-igniting thoughts of match drawing possibilities.
Dennis turned up the heat forcing a fine win, making the score an amazing 2½-2½.
My opponent failed to find the knock out blow as i hung on for the draw, leaving Glyn administering the coup-de-grace. 4-3 to URMSTON weighed in!"
Stockport 2 come to Urmston next week; with revenge on their mind???
