TRAFFORD is celebrating once again this week, with the announcement of this year's unvalidated GCSE results.

Just seven days after Trafford’s A level results, which saw the borough top the north west table, the GCSE results see schools maintaining an excellent standard.

With two schools’ results still to come in, the outcome so far shows that more than 60 per cent of pupils attained five or more A* to C grades, including English and mathematics And more than 80 per cent of Trafford's pupils gained five or more A* to C grades.

Executive councillor John Holden said: "Locally schools are continuing to achieve high levels of examination results across the board. This does not just happen. To sustain educational achievement year on year takes commitment, determination and strength.

“This is not just about the students themselves, but the teachers and school staff, parents and family members who provide the guidance, enthusiasm and encouragement throughout the year.

"I'd like to congratulate each and every one of our students on their achievements. Coming on the back of last week's outstanding A level results and primary school Key Stage One and Two statistics, they prove Trafford's educational achievements are among the best nationally.”
