A Trafford town has seen the fifth highest increase in the average asking rent price in the past year outside of London, according to an index.
According to Rightmove, average asking rents outside London hit a standstill in the early months of 2026, marking the first time since 2017 that they have not increased between the end of a previous year and the start of a new year.
Across Britain outside of London, the average advertised rent for homes coming onto the market showed a 0.0 per cent change between the fourth quarter of 2025 and the first quarter of 2026.
However, some places, including Urmston, have seen significant increases in asking rents over the past year.

The Trafford town has been named as one of the hotspots where asking rents have seen major rises, ranking as the fifth annual increase in average asking rent over the past year.
According to Rightmove, the average asking rent in Urmston as of March is £1,600, representing a 17.6 per cent annual increase in the average asking rent.
The Trafford town ranked only behind Iver in Buckinghamshire in first place, followed by Godalming in Surrey, Truro in Cornwall and Harrogate in Yorkshire.
Urmston was not the only place in the North West to rank in the top 10, with Runcorn and Warrington, both in Cheshire, ranking sixth and eighth respectively.
