This is the miraculous moment some ducklings were reunited with their mother after they fell from their nest on the roof of a school in Altrincham.

The ducklings were separated from their mother after they fell almost 10 metres from their nest on the roof of Loreto Grammar School on May 2.

Sadly, some of them did not survive, but eight of them which did survive were reunited with their mother thanks to quick-thinking RSPCA Inspector Leanne Cooper, who played duckling noises on her phone to try to tempt her onto the lawn of the school on Dunham Road.

One duckling was taken to Stapeley Grange Wildlife Centre near to Nantwich in Cheshire for treatment.

Ms Cooper said: "The school did the right thing by containing the ducklings which made it easier for me to give them all a thorough check over and we are grateful for the compassion and concern they showed.

"Every kind of animal deserves a helping hand and we can achieve so much more when we work together."

The RSPCA is celebrating its 200th anniversary by asking people to care for animals and to carry out one million acts of kindness towards animals.
