A new specialist health clinic has been officially opened in Chester.

Varicose vein specialists Veincentre have opened the clinic doors with the help of Lord Mayor of Chester, Councillor Sheila Little and Chester Town Crier David Mitchell.

Cllr Little was given a tour of the new clinic and saw first hand the state of the art equipment used to treat varicose veins and thread veins.

Veincentre Chester is located on Dodleston House in Bell Meadow Business Park, off Wrexham Road.

The new clinic has created five jobs in the local area including a receptionist, staff nurses and specialist vascular consultants.

To date, Veincentre has 35 clinics located in Glasgow, London, Manchester, Liverpool, Bristol and Southampton.

Dr Ananth Krishnan, consultant interventional radiologist in Chester, said: “We’re delighted that the Lord Mayor of Chester and Town Crier officially opened our clinic here in Chester.

"We’ve seen many patients travelling from Chester to our Manchester and Liverpool clinics so it is great to have a clinic at their doorstep.

"Our procedures are walk in, walk out and patients can return to work the next day. Varicose veins affect 30 per cent of the population.

"They cause both cosmetic and symptomatic distress to patients and if left untreated can result in severe symptoms, eczema and in extreme cases, venous ulcers. Veincentre aims to assess and treat patients before they get to this stage so they can enjoy their legs, so having a conveniently located clinic here in Chester is a great addition to the city. ”

Veincentre are now the UK’s largest network of specialist clinics for conditions related to venous insufficiency, especially varicose veins, thread veins and certain venous ulcers.
