Nicky Hunt has teamed up with Macclesfield boss Michael Clegg to launch a new soccer school with the aim of “giving back to the local community”.
Hunt has a wealth of experience in the game, having played 400 league games including a memorable nine-year spell at Wanderers, where he regularly played in the top flight under Sam Allardyce.
Meanwhile, Clegg took charge at Macclesfield in February following a spell at Warrington Rylands. He previously managed Atherton Colls, guiding his hometown club to the Northern Premier League for the first time in its history.
The sessions will take place every Monday evening, starting on April 22, and will be held at Atherton High School, where Hunt and Clegg were both pupils.
“With me and Michael, it is about the quality of coaching and the fact that it gets kids out of the house and exercising,” Hunt told The Bolton News.
“For kids who might not be the most co-operative in groups and maybe keep themselves to themselves, it might be a chance to express themselves and create new friends in an environment they are not used to.
“That enjoyment factor is a massive part for us because with anything, if you don’t enjoy it, you are not going to carry on doing it.
“We will make it as enjoyable as possible for all ages, boys and girls, and hopefully we will make a success of it.”
Here are the details for each one-hour session
- Ages 4-8 (boys and girls), 5pm
- Ages 6-11 (girls only), 6pm
- Ages 9-11 (boys only, 7pm
- Ages 12-14 (boys only), 8pm
Anyone who is interested in taking part can sign up for the first session for £7. Click HERE for more information.
