All of the candidates are set in stone for the local elections after a list was released by Trafford Council.

A third of the seats are available when the polls open on the same day as the mayoral elections (May 2).

The Labour Group is in control of the council, and it is at its largest since the creation of the council half a century ago, but there is competition from the Conservative Group (10 seats), Green Group (six seats) and Liberal Democrats (six seats) as well as those from other parties with no seats such as Reform UK and a number of independents.

The deadline for registration to vote is on April 16, while the deadline to apply for a postal vote is on the following day.

The deadline to apply for a proxy vote is on April 24, as is the deadline to apply for a Voter Authority Certificate. A Voter Authority Certificate is a Voter ID for those without a valid ID such as a licence or a passport.
