Several Trafford residents are among more than 100 in the North West and more than 1000 across the UK on The King's New Year Honours List.

The honours mark the amazing achievements of those who make contributions to the community or to the country via work in any number of areas.

The Trafford residents range from Altrincham's Michael Eakin – the chief executive of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic who is now an Officer of the Order of the British Empire – to community champions including Old Trafford's Reverend Christine Aspinall and Sale's Edward Everett who are now Medallists of the Order of the British Empire.

Peter Buchan. Shipping Director, Nuclear Transport Solutions. For services to the nuclear industry and to young people (Sale)

Medallist of the Order of the British Empire (BEM)

Christine Aspinall. For services to the community in Old Trafford, Greater Manchester (Old Trafford)

Daniel Herman. For services to education and to Holocaust Awareness (Altrincham)

Edward Everett. Member, Friends of the Bridgewater Canal. For services to the environment (Sale)

William Nixon. Secretary, Social Enterprise UK. For services to young people (Sale)

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said: "The New Year Honours List recognises the exceptional achievements of people across the country and those who have shown the highest commitment to compassion and selflessness.

"To all honourees you are the pride of this country and an inspiration to us all."
