A teenager was taken to hospital with serious injuries after a stabbing in Stretford.

The emergency services were called to The Quadrant at around 4.30pm yesterday.

On arrival, a teenager was taken to hospital with serious injuries, although these are not thought to be life-changing or life-threatening.

An 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of Section 18 assault, or wounding, and he was taken into custody to be interviewed.

Detective Sergeant Rory Leicester, of GMP Trafford, said: "We understand an incident of this nature in broad daylight will cause concern within the community but we believe this to be an isolated incident. Whilst we have one suspect in custody our enquiries are continuing at pace and we are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed this incident or who has any information which could assist our investigation.

"Residents may notice an increased presence in the area whilst officers continue their enquiries."
