A 29-year-old man was arrested on drugs offences after a car was stopped by police in Trafford.

Officers from Greater Manchester Police's Xcalibre Task Force working under Operation Tahara made a total of five arrests and recovered a machete at the weekend.

On Friday at around 4.35pm, officers were called to reports of a grey Hyundai driving erratically on Chester Road, Trafford.

After stopping the car over, officers found a total of 19 snap bags containing Class A drugs.

A 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply and was taken into police custody for questioning. He has since been bailed.

Meanwhile, at around 7.25pm on Sunday, officers were called to reports of a large group of youngsters with knives setting off fireworks in Crowcroft Park, Longsight.

The offenders left and a pursuit on foot ensued with officers detaining two men.

A 16-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article and possession with intent to supply. He has since been bailed.

A 45-year-old man was also arrested for obstruction and assaulting an emergency worker. He has since been bailed pending further investigation.

Elsewhere over the weekend, a 39-year-old woman was arrested for breaching a court order in Hulme and a 17-year-old man was arrested after a short pursuit in North Manchester on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, driving without insurance, driving otherwise in accordance with a licence and dangerous driving.
