If you thought you would have to wait until November for light trails, we’ve got a spook-tacular surprise for you.

Halloween Lakeside Light Trail has opened at Partridge Lakes in Culcheth this October.

But rather than twinkling fairy lights and snowflakes, it’s filled with spooky skeletons and light-up pumpkins.

We visited during a wet and rainy evening but the majority of the trail looping around the lake is under the cover of trees so we didn’t need our brolly.

Described as like stepping into a Halloween storybook, I wasn’t sure if my three-year-old boy would find some of the spooky displays scary along the route.

Warrington Guardian:

But I couldn’t have been more wrong as he bounded past a creepy Jack in the box and had multiple questions about two ghost children on a see-saw.

His highlight was meeting Cinderella at the end of the trail who asked him what he had seen and got a long list including “lots and lots of witches - can you believe that!?”

We walked around the trail in around 45 minutes but my little boy enjoyed it so much he asked to go around again.

Warrington Guardian:

Luckily you can do as many laps as you like before the trail closes.

While there are longer trails around Christmas time, it’s well worth extending your visit toasting marshmallows or trying some of the food or sweet treats on offer.

There’s undercover and heated areas near the exit as well as another undercover area just before the trail starts.

Three thick, fluffy marshmallows were on sale for £4 and my little boy loved toasting them over the fire.

Warrington Guardian:

For older kids, the hot chocolates and milkshakes on offer at the Travelling Teapot are sure to be a hit.

The devilish drinks come topped with eyeballs and fang sweets and were an eerie-sistible treat that will no doubt be appearing on plenty of Instagram grids this October.

Warrington Guardian:

And for grown-ups the choices included Vietnamese rice boxes as well as loaded halloumi fries.

There was a warm welcome from all the staff and marshals at Partridge Lakes and this new event will definitely give your family ‘pumpkin’ to talk about as a fang-tastic starter ahead of the festive season.

Halloween Lakeside Light Trail is open from now until October 31.

Tickets are £18 for adults and £14 for children.

Under 3s are free.
